Features, Benefits and Outcomes

Translate what your product has into what it does for the customer - and what that means for their life or business.

1 min readUpdated 2026-09-26

Lesson objectives

  • Convert features into benefits and outcomes
  • Choose the right level for each audience

Three levels

  • Feature: what it is ('automated reminder emails').
  • Benefit: what it does ('fewer no-shows').
  • Outcome: what that means ('more booked revenue without chasing clients').

Lead with outcomes and benefits, then support them with features so the claims are concrete and believable. Technical buyers may want features earlier - know your audience.

Action steps

  1. Write feature → benefit → outcome for your top five features

Checklist

  • Outcomes are realistic
  • Every benefit is backed by a feature
